ABOUT LEAD

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that want to follow the Lord's counsel to learn the gospel and to gain an understanding "of all things both in heaven an in earth...that we may be prepared in all things." (D&C 88-78-80). We have been given many oppotunities to learn. Now we want to share those opportunities with others too.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What exactly does LEAD do?

LEAD is a scholarship fund designed for individuals who are eager to obtain an education but do not have the means to achieve their goal.

What is a "LEADer"?

"LEADer" is the name for our scholarship award recipients. LEADer recipients are individuals of faith who desire to become "natural leaders who know how to teach and how to learn. They will have the power to innovate and improve without requiring more of what money can buy. [They will become] legendary for their capacity to build the people around them and to add value wherever they serve." (President Henry B. Eyring, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in his September 18, 2001 BYU-Idaho devotional "A Steady, Upward Course")

If I am accepted, what will my LEAD scholarship pay for?

Your scholarship will pay tuition costs for up to 3 semesters in the Pathway Connect program at BYU - Pathway Worldwide.

LEADers will receive an initial scholarship for their first semester tuition costs, which will be paid directly to Pathway. This scholarship can be renewed for an additional 2 semesters for students who maintain a minimum grade of B- in every class.

Any associated costs, such as textbooks, transportation and lodging, will not be covered by the scholarship. In addition, some nations may charge taxes to the scholarship recipients. It is the recipient's responsibility to know their local laws.

My Bishop or Branch President does not speak English. Is this a problem?

Nope! Although most of the LEAD team has not yet mastered a second language, we have many kind volunteers that have. LEAD's team of volunteers are available to translate your Bishop or Branch President's letter of recommendation.

How do I renew my scholarship?

It's easy! Just submit a copy of your transcript to:

renew@leadtothefuture.org

Can the scholarship be applied to another university, technical school or college?

On rare occasions, exceptional candidates may be granted a scholarship to another university, technical school or college. This is granted on a case-by-case basis.

Will my LEAD scholarship pay for regular BYU, BYU - Idaho or BYU - Hawaii tuition?

Unfortunately, no. Our goal is to help individuals get started on their pathway to discipled learning.

Do I have to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to apply?

Possibly. Because LEAD is currently only offering scholarships to Pathway Connect, we must follow all of their admission requirements.

I want to help!

We don't blame you. This is an amazing experience! There are three ways to help out:

  1. Sponsor a specific student

  2. Make a one time financial donation to the LEAD Foundation

  3. Make a monthly contribution to the LEAD Foundation

Your secure payments are processed through Donate-ly.

How do I sponsor a specific student?

It's simple. Just click on the "Sponsor" tab. Our site will direct you to a sample of students wishing to be sponsored. Of course, there are always more. For the most current list, email us at sponsor@leadtothefuture.org.

How will my donation be spent?

100% of all donations will be paid directly to Pathway, minus the small processing fee charged to LEAD by our payment processor, Donate-ly. LEAD administrators work as volunteers. We do not accept any wages, benefits or compensations. Know that your money will go exactly where you want it to go.

Are my contributions tax deductible?

Yes! LEAD Foundation Inc maintains 501(c)(3) status. Our tax ID number is           20-8953731. Individual questions should be directed to your tax advisors.

I am still uncomfortable donating to LEAD, but I want to help. Are there any other options?

Yes! You can donate directly to Pathway Worldwide's general fund here.
